ProFitX Trade Tracker: Bojan Bogdanovic

Nick Crain | 1/27/23

Since being acquired by the Detroit Pistons during the offseason as they looked to take a step forward, Bojan Bogdanovic has emerged as one of the more sought after veterans in the NBA. Now 46 games into his 2022-23 campaign, the 33-year-old wing is averaging 21.5 points per game while shooting 42.3% from deep and 88.2% from the free throw line. He’s also producing 3.6 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest in what’s been arguably his best NBA season. With Detroit not being as good as expected, especially following the season-ending injury of Cade Cunningham, the Pistons could be sellers at the deadline.  Bogdanovic was signed to a two-year, 39.1 million extension just a few months ago, so he’s under contract through the 2024-25 season. Based on ProFitX projections, he’ll be well worth the roughly $20 million he will be owed in the upcoming two seasons.  He’d be the perfect piece for a team looking to contend and take that next step forward. As such, it’s no surprise he’s been a popular name on the trade market. It seems as if Detroit would absolutely be open to moving him, but only at the right price.  With that in mind, let’s use ProFitX’s trade model to identify three trade packages that could make sense as a starting point for the high-scoring forward.

Celtics Continue Championship Push

The Boston Celtics lost in the NBA Finals last season, but have gotten better on paper since. If they’re looking to really build the best roster in the NBA, adding Bogdanovic could be a quick win. As important as Grant Williams is to this team, he’s due for a significant contract in the near future, so parting ways now could make sense.

Timberwolves Attempt to Turn Season Around

After making big moves in the offseason, the Minnesota Timberwolves have not played up to the level of expectation. The roster just doesn’t seem to fit right, so making a move could be exactly what they need. Naz Reid is having a breakout season and is due for a new contract, so perhaps the Pistons could acquire him and make the young big a part of their long-term plans.

Knicks Solidify Postseason Roster

The New York Knicks have shown flashes of being really good this year, it just doesn’t happen consistently enough. If they’re serious about making a splash in the Eastern Conference, adding a 20-point scorer would be huge. Immanuel Quickley is young, fits the Pistons’ timeline and has been reportedly available for the right price on the trade market.
